Model Skin MD offers medical dermatology consultations for patients referred by family physicians and other eligible healthcare providers.
Our GP Dermatology service focuses on the assessment and management of common skin conditions, skin lesions, and minor dermatologic procedures, helping provide patients with timely access to physician-based skin care in Vancouver.

Conditions We Assess
We accept referrals for a wide range of common dermatologic concerns, including:
Acne & Rosacea
Assessment and medical management of acne, rosacea, and related inflammatory skin conditions.
Eczema & Dermatitis
Assessment of atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and other forms of eczema.
Psoriasis
Assessment and management of localized and uncomplicated psoriasis.
Skin Lesions & Growths
Assessment of moles, cysts, seborrheic keratoses, skin tags, and other skin lesions.
Suspicious Skin Lesions
Clinical assessment of changing or concerning lesions and biopsy when medically appropriate.
Skin Infections
Assessment of selected bacterial, fungal, and viral skin conditions.
Hair & Scalp Conditions
Assessment of common scalp conditions and selected causes of hair loss.
Pigmentation Disorders
Assessment of medically relevant hyperpigmentation and other pigmentary changes.
Referral acceptance depends on the clinical concern and whether it falls within the scope of our GP Dermatology service. Cases requiring specialist-level care may be redirected or referred to a dermatologist or other appropriate specialist.
How It Works
Your Healthcare Provider Sends a Referral
Ask your family physician, nurse practitioner, or other eligible healthcare provider to send us a referral outlining your skin concern and relevant medical history.

We Review Your Referral
Our medical team reviews referrals to determine whether the concern is appropriate for our GP Dermatology service.

We Contact You
Once the referral has been accepted, our clinic will contact you to arrange your appointment.

Consultation & Treatment Plan
Your physician will review your history, examine your skin concern, and discuss diagnosis, investigations, treatment options, and follow-up as appropriate.
When indicated, minor procedures such as biopsy may also be recommended.

We Communicate With Your Referring Provider
A consultation report and relevant recommendations are sent back to your referring healthcare provider to support continuity of care.

Model Skin MD welcomes referrals from family physicians and other eligible healthcare providers for patients requiring assessment of common dermatologic conditions.
Our goal is to complement community primary care by providing focused skin assessments, treatment recommendations, selected minor procedures, and clear communication back to the referring provider.

Our Physician
Eric Wang, MD CCFP
Family Physician — Focused Practice in Dermatology
Dr. Wang is a family physician with additional education and clinical experience in dermatology and minor surgical procedures. He completed his medical school at the University of Toronto, residency at the University of Calgary, and Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology at Cardiff University. His practice at Model Skin MD focuses on the assessment and management of common dermatologic conditions and office-based skin procedures.

Patients being seen through our referred medical dermatology service require an appropriate referral from a healthcare provider.

Our GP Dermatology service is provided by a family physician with additional training and experience in dermatologic conditions. It is not a substitute for specialist dermatology where specialist-level assessment or treatment is required.
Patients requiring specialist dermatology care will be directed back to their referring provider or referred onward when appropriate.

Medically necessary physician services may be covered by MSP for eligible BC residents when applicable. Coverage depends on the service provided and MSP eligibility. Our team can provide further information when your referral is processed.

Referred medical dermatology appointments are booked separately from our cosmetic consultations. Once we receive and accept your referral, our team will contact you directly.

Yes. When clinically indicated and within the scope of our service, shave, punch, or excisional biopsy may be recommended. Some procedures require a separate appointment.

Some complex, severe, or specialized skin conditions require assessment by a dermatologist. If your concern falls outside the scope of our GP Dermatology service, we will communicate this to your referring provider so that appropriate care can be arranged.
